Obituary

William "Bill" C. Kern, 66, of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 28, 2017.

A visitation for Bill will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Another visitation will take place on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell. A funeral service will follow at Salem Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Vander Galien officiating. Burial will take place at Leipsig Cemetery in South Beaver Dam.

Bill was born the son of John and Evelyn (Schmaltz) Kern on June 17, 1951 in Beaver Dam. On October 4, 1975 he was united in marriage with Frieda Schmitt at Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell. Bill farmed his whole life in the town of Beaver Dam on his family's farmland.

He was a longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell. Bill liked to read the "Wisconsin State Farmer", always loved a good tractor pull, and admired International Harvester farming equipment. He liked to travel and was always up for a road trip. He enjoyed playing blackjack and watching the Green Bay Packers. But most of all Bill loved to spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren who he was so proud of.

Bill is survived by his wife Frieda Kern, his 6 children; Jacob Kern of Beaver Dam, Rachel (KJ) Packard of Sun Prairie, Lucas William (Alice) Kern of Beaver Dam, Elizabeth Kern of Sun Prairie, Joe (special friend Jessica Berkevich) Kern of Beaver Dam, and Emily (special friend Chris Zaeske) Kern of Colorado, 3 sisters; Karla (David) Schultz, Kathy (Robert) McGee, and Mary Sue (Rusty Barwick) Kern, 2 brothers; Rolland Kern, and Donald "Super" Kern, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law; John (Sandy) Schmitt, Bonnie (Ken) Guenther, Sue (Jerry) Ebert, Nancy Hussli, Roy (Christine) Schmitt, Cindy Kadinger, Marilea (Pat) Groves, Gina (Andy) Oemig, Leon (Annette) Schmitt, 4 grandchildren; Abigail Packard, Kevin J "Buckshot" Packard, Daniel William Kern, and Silas Kern, step father-in-law; George Strohbush. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Charles Kern and Gary Kern, nephew Thomas Schmitt, great niece Madisyn Kadinger and his father and mother-in law, Leon and Yvonne Schmitt.
