Obituary

Sylva H. Kehl was called home by her Lord and Savior on October 8, 2017.

Sylva was born January 11, 1922, near La Porte City IA as the only child of Emil and Ina (Triem) Frank.

Clarence C. Kehl from Columbus WI was a traveling Hawaiian guitar teacher when he met music student Sylva Frank near LaPorte City, IA.

They were married January 9, 1946 in Dumont IA, and returned to the Kehl homestead on Hwy. 89 south of Columbus. They owned and operated a full-scale turkey grower and production operation, the Kehl Turkey Farm, for 36 years.

Sylva was preceded in death by her parents Emil Frank and Ina (Triem) Frank, husband Clarence, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Les and Mabel (Kern) Kehl.

Sylva was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Columbus, Zion Ladies Aid Society, served as a Reporter for the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society (LWMS), and took an active role in the Lakeside Lutheran High School Auxilliary.

After Clarence's death in 1982, Sylva found her calling as a respite care provider throughout Columbia County, caring for the elderly, sick, and disabled well into her 80s.

Sylva is survived by her children Donald of Columbus, Marlene (Alan Pleuss) of Manitowoc, Yvonne Kehl (Michael Chambers) of Kimberly, and Martin Kehl of Plymouth; her grandchildren: Autumn Hill, Shawn Kehl, Katharine Pleuss, Kaleb (Julianne Nevers) Pleuss, her great grandchildren, William and Adayla Pleuss; and further survived by step-grandchildren, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Rev. Robert Wilke will officiate. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.

Sylva's family is grateful to Visiting Angels Home Healthcare of Beaver Dam, Columbus Health and Rehab, and Agrace HospiceCare for their support.
