Ruth Loretta Schaumburg, 94, of Mayville, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Hillside Manor Nursing Home in Beaver Dam.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 30 at 2:00 the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville with the Rev. AHyun Lee officiating. A visitation will take place on Sunday, December 30 from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow at the Cooper Shop Saloon in Kekoskee. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Kekoskee.

Ruth Loretta Blank was born on November 11, 1924 in Kohlsville, the daughter of Franklin and Frieda (nee Kopp) Blank. She was a graduate of Kewaskum High School. She graduated from Milwaukee Teacher's College and taught in a one room schoolhouse in Washington County. She was united in marriage to Clarence Schaumburg on August 9, 1947, at West Bend Methodist Church. Ruth farmed with her husband in Mayville until his death in 2000.

Ruth is survived by three of her children, Diane (Peter Mosbach) of Acton, MA, Karen (Alan) Bodden of Beaver Dam and Roger of Mayville. She was preceded in death by her son Gary (Renate) of Mayville. She is survived by grandchildren Emilie (Adam Springer) Schaumburg of Appleton, Wilhelm Schaumburg of Milwaukee, David Mosbach (Elizabeth) of Richland, MI., Michael Mosbach of Somerville, MA. and Sarah Bodden of Madison; and one great-grandchild Charles Mosbach of Richland, MI.; daughter in law Renate of Mayville; sister Bernice Lawless of Bell Buckle, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, sister Marion Holl of Juneau, brother Reverend Kenneth Blank of Green Bay, and a brother in infancy. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.

She was active in the United Method Church of Mayville, Farm Bureau, Meals on Wheels, Young at Hearts of Horicon, Friends of the Horicon Marsh and 4-H. She enjoyed nature and related activities such as counting sandhill cranes with her friends Pearl Wavra and Dorothy Adams. While in her eighties volunteering for Meals on Wheels she remarked that she enjoyed serving the "old people".

The family would like to thank the staff at Hillside Manor Nursing Home and Hillside Hospice for the compassionate care she received.
