Obituary

Phillip H. Guenther, 85, of Beaver Dam passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

Phillip was born the son of Harry R. and Lema E. (Huebner) Guenther on June 9, 1932 in Beaver Dam. He was a 1950 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Phil served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 until he was honorably discharged in 1954. He was married to Shirley Ann Keske on January 26, 1957 in Beaver Dam.

Phil began his career helping his family run Guenther Electric. Later in the 1970s, Phil pursued a career in the automotive industry where he was a car salesman in and around the Madison area. After his retirement in 2000, he enjoyed his time fishing with his son Doug. He also enjoyed playing cards at the Beaver Dam Senior Center and became known as the "card shark" because he won so often.

Phil is survived by his wife, Shirley of Beaver Dam; his children: Douglas Guenther of Mayville, Michael Guenther of Montello, and Jeffrey (Michelle) Guenther of Fall River; his grandchildren: Charles (Theresa) Taylor, Rebecca Barnica, Nicholas (Ashley) Guenther, and Dustin Guenther; and his great-grandchildren: Kamden and Wyatt Guenther.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Patricia Gigl in 2014.

A private family celebration of Phillip's life will be held in the spring of 2018. Phil said he would like to go Port Washington and "go fishing" one last time.
Phil's family would like to thank the caregivers at Hillside Manor and Hillside Hospice for their excellent care and support.
