Obituary for Marilyn C. Schinderle

December 30, 1928 - April 4, 2018
Mayville, Wisconsin | Age 89

Marilyn Caroline Schinderle, age 89, of Mayville returned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 4, at Hospice Home of Hope after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Marilyn was born at the family farm on December 30, 1928 to Andrew Jr. and Josephine (Ehrike) Oechsner. Growing up as the oldest girl on the farm, Marilyn learned many life long skills. She learned how to work the land, care for the animals, and run a household. She especially enjoyed working with the horses. She loved to ride her favorite horse, Goldie in Mayville parades.

On June 24, 1950, Marilyn married Carl Slade, a farm boy from Columbus, at St Mary Church in Mayville. Carl was killed in the Korean War on Nov. 17, 1952.

On Feb 5, 1955, Marilyn was united in marriage to James Schinderle. She and Jim had known each other since their childhood days at St. Mary's School. They had four children together. Marilyn lavished her love on her family by making delicious meals and bake goods, knitting and crocheting gifts, and coming to their aid at the drop of a hat! She cherished her nine grandchildren, and her four great grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her children; John (Ann Johnson) Baraboo, Jerry (Janice Luehring) Sugarland, TX, Mary Jo Myers (Scott) Mayville, Mary Ann Schmidt (Paul) Burnett. Grandchildren; Carolyn Moncada (Richard), JoAnn Schinderle, Diana Raupp (Ben), Thomas & Nicole Schinderle, Dylan & Austin Myers, Erick & Emily Schmidt. Great grandchildren: Rand, Isaac, Harvey, Conrad. She is also survived by her sisters Connie Pilsner, Therese Weiss (Don), Margaret Oechsner (John), Joan Muenchow (Ralph); and her in-laws Mary Lou Oechsner, Darlene Oechsner, Bob Schinderle (Beth), Bill Schinderle (Jan), and Mike Hartl.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Carl, husband Jim in 2009; her brothers, Francis Oechsner, Jerome (Tuffy) Oechsner, and Andrew III (Butch) Oechsner, her sister Rose Ann Rake; and her in-laws, Mary Ann Oechsner, Harold Rake, Donny Pilsner, and Rosemary Hartl.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday April 10 at 1:00 p.m. at St Mary Church in Mayville with the Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding. Visitation will be held at the church in Mayville prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Mayville.

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac for their care and support shown to Marilyn and her family during her stay.
