Obituary

Kathryn Frieda Daugherty, 83, formerly of Fond du Lac, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK.

Kathryn (Kathie) was born on March 10, 1935, to Alvin and Rose Kehrmeyer in LeRoy, WI, where she and her eight siblings grew up on a farm bordering the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge. On April 24, 1954, Kathie married Robert (Bob) Daugherty of Cincinnati, OH, in St. Andrew's Catholic Church in LeRoy. They raised their family in Fond du Lac until Bob's career took them to New Jersey and Michigan. They returned to Wisconsin in 1985 to live once again on the shores of Lake Winnebago near their treasured Kehrmeyer relatives and lifelong friends. In later years, they moved to warmer climes in Wilmington, NC. Following the death of her beloved husband in 2015, Kathie settled in Bartlesville, OK, under the loving care of her children.

Kathie's life revolved around her family and creating a warm, welcoming home for all who entered. She excelled at cooking, gardening, needlework, and basket making. Together, Kathie and Bob enjoyed boating, golfing, tennis, playing cards, and, most of all, spending time with family and friends. For over 25 years they gathered family members from all over the country to spend a week together in northern Wisconsin. Their legacy of family unity continues today.

Kathie was blessed with a kind, gracious spirit which touched everyone who knew her. This shone through even as she struggled with Alzheimer's disease. We are comforted knowing that she knows who Kathie Daugherty is again, and remembers all who love her.

She is survived by her children, Cindy (Wade) Riffe of Bartlesville, OK; Karen (Conrad) Lowman of Wilmington, NC; Julie (Paul) Tirrell of Cooperstown, NY; Nancy (Bob) Willey of St. Joseph, MI; and Paul (Beth) Daugherty of Maplewood, NJ; her grandchildren, Sam (Nicole) Riffe, Elizabeth (Robert) Saldana, Jessica (Earl) Smith, Casey (Jason Mitchneck) Lowman, William and Luke Tirrell, Clayton (Jessica) and Marshall (Jessica) Willey, Emma, Jesse, John and Lucy Daugherty; and great-grandchildren, Grace and Tony Saldana, Thayer, Esme and Alden Smith, and Weston Lowman; her siblings, Rosemary Pabich, Earl (Betty) Kehrmeyer, and Donnie (Betsy Beatty) Kehrmeyer; sisters-in-law Cathie Kehrmeyer and Naomi Rathkamp; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Bob Daugherty, Kathie was preceded in death by her grandson, Robert Tirrell; and sisters, brothers and in-laws, Addie and Carly Lookman, Gen and Merlin Luedtke, Francis and Pat Kehrmeyer, Vernie Kehrmeyer, Francis Pabich, Mary Kehrmeyer, and Harry Rathkamp.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. noon at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Leroy, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 26, 2019 with the Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding. Burial will take place at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in LeRoy. Guests are invited to a reception lunch at The Pub restaurant in Mayville immediately after the burial.

The family extends a special thank you to staff at Grace Hospice of Oklahoma, The Journey Home, Oxford Glen Memory Residence, and Brookdale Bartlesville North, OK, for their compassionate care and loving kindness shown to Kathie and her family.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Journey Home, 900 NE Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006. www.thejourneyhomeok.com
