Jeanette was born on August 3, 1926 to Henry and Josephine (Bromberk) Marcouiller in Niagara, Wisconsin. She was the fourth of five children in her family. She was a graduate of Niagara High School. While in high school, she worked as a clerk in the family grocery store. During World War 2, she also courageously delivered groceries in the store's truck around Niagara and into Michigan, across an old wooden bridge spanning the Menominee River.
After the end of the war, she moved to Milwaukee where she met the love of her life, Robert Claude Simonis, while they were both working at luggage manufacturer Abel and Bach. Jeanette and Bob were united in marriage in Niagara on June 28, 1952.
Jeanette's Catholic faith played a large role in her life. She attended Mass daily for nearly 4 decades. She served on St. Patrick's altar guild for many years. She also was a member of St. Patrick's Christian Mothers serving funeral luncheons and working at the Annual Christmas Bazaar.
At home, she loved to do gardening, stitchery, and ceramics. Jeanette always enjoyed driving her various sporty cars throughout the years to and from daily Mass.
Spending time with her family, however, was most important to her. Jeanette, Bob and their children spent time every summer at the family's lakeside cottage in the Upper Peninsula with Jeanette's mother, siblings and their families. Jeanette continued this tradition after Bob's death in 2002. She loved the time she spent at the cottage because it meant visiting with her many nieces, nephews and grandchildren as well as her cousins, aunts, and uncles. Many long and happy hours were spent swimming and boating on the lake with all her relatives.
She is survived by her children Cheryl (Robert) Connell of Newport , Oregon; Mark Simonis of Appleton, Wisconsin; Mary Beth (Kenneth) Bockhorst of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; Jeffrey (Colleen) Simonis of Snellville, Georgia; Christopher Simonis of Beaver Dam; grandchildren Sean Connell, Nicholas Nowicki, Lucas Nowicki , Lindsey Nowicki, Kyle Simonis, Colin Simonis; step grand-daughter Breighana; her many nieces and nephews and their families; and her beloved sister-in-law Dorothy Marcouiller.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Josephine; husband Bob; siblings Clarence Marcouiller, Marion Kalina, James Marcouiller, and Robert Marcoullier.
