Hans Jurgen "Grizz" Horetzki, 69, of Beaver Dam passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.

A visitation for Hans will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. A time to share memories will begin at 4 p.m. and military honors conducted by the Marine Corps League Detachment 359 will follow.

Hans was born the son of Johann and Theresia (Laschober) Horetzki on April 13, 1948 in Schweigern, Germany. At the age of 3, Hans moved to America in 1951. He was a 1966 graduate of Mayville High School. From 1967 to 1970 he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. For 33 years he worked for Alto Dairy as an engineer, and was also on the Alto Fire Department. Hans was united in marriage with Georgia Bernhard on March 23, 2001.

Hans enjoyed hunting, especially in South Dakota where he hunted buffalo and prairie dogs. He was a true believer in the 2nd amendment, as well as freedom of speech. He was an NRA instructor, and liked the International Defensive Pistol Association, Single Action Shooting Society, and enjoyed Buckskinners. Hans enjoyed taking nighttime photography, and was a great story teller.

Hans will be missed by his wife, Georgia Horetzki of Beaver Dam, children; Heidi Mae Horetzki, Joseph Jon (Rachel) Horetzki, and Mikael Georg (Julie) Horetzki, step-children; Tiffanie (Chad) Butzen, and Daniel (Sarah) Bailey, grandchildren; Erin Driscoll, Jackson Alsup, Chase Butzen, Samuel Horetzki, and Hope Horetzki, sisters; Tammy (Kevin) Michael and Cindy Kienast, former wife Faye Barber-Schmuhl, and his precious Labrador retrievers; Gunner and Ruby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Hollie Fae Horetzki, and his dog Jack.

In leiu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Hans' name to the Marine Corps League Detachment 359 (300 Beichl Ave., Beaver Dam, WI 53916).

The family would like to thank the staff and doctors for their great care at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, the ER in Beaver Dam.
