Gladys H. Sternat, age 94, of Mayville passed away peacefully at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond Du Lac early Wednesday April 19, 2017.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville with the Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding. A visitation will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. at the church with a luncheon to follow. Private family entombment will take place at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.

Gladys was born December 17, 1922 in Mayville, WI. the daughter of Alvin and Leona (Manthey) Lehner. She was united in marriage to Rudolph R Sternat Jr. on November 1 1944, at St Andrew Catholic Church of Leroy WI. Gladys retired from West Bend Company after 33 years of service. Together with her husband Rudy they owned and operated Sternats' Bar and Restaurant in Leroy for 15 years. After retirement she relocated to West Bend, and then spent many years in Tucson AZ. until returning home to Mayville WI in 2009. She was an amazing woman who loved bingo, cards, dancing, camping, travel, cooking, baking and volunteering. She was always willing to help others in her loving and caring ways. Gladys enjoyed life to the fullest. She will be deeply missed by many.

She is survived by her sons Harvey (Janet) Sternat of Bayfield WI, Brian (Diane) Sternat of Beaver Dam WI, Daughter in law Mary Ann Sternat of Mayville WI, Son in Law Larry Garman of Manchester TN. Grandchildren, Amy (Dave) Jessen, Lisa Sternat, Stephanie (Jason) Martinez, Christopher (Michelle) Garman, Christa (Fiancé Dustin) Garman, Tamara (Paul) Rhodes, and great grandchildren Her sisters- Arlene (Tom) Bobb and Nyla (Gerald) Gillich. Her brother- Wilfred (June) Lehner. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rudy, daughter Denise, son Ron, her sisters, Caroline, Lucille, Bonita, and Jeanette. Brothers, Harold, Victor, Norbert, and Gilbert. Her special friend John Jackson
