Gertrude 'Gertie' Benter, age 100, of Mayville passed away peacefully on August 23, 2018 at Hope Health and Rehabilitation in Lomira.

A funeral service for Gertie will take place on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 4 p.m. at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville with the Rev. Bruce Zagel officiating. Visitation will take place from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place on Monday, August 27 at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin.

Gertrude was born on October 5, 1917, the daughter of Edwin and Adela (Groth) Reinke in Lebanon, WI. She was baptized on October 14, 1917 at St. Peter's in Lebanon by Rev. C. A. Bretscher. Gertrude then attended St. Peter's Lutheran School for 8 years and then was confirmed on June 7, 1931 by Rev. Theo Eggers. She was united in marriage on March 23, 1941 to William Benter at St. Peter's in Lebanon. She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville and was a member of the Dorcus Society. In her spare time Gertrude enjoyed playing cards especially Sheepshead. She also enjoyed bingo. Gertrude loved traveling to the family cabin at Pickerel Lake. She cherished the time spent with her family and her grandchildren.

Gertrude is survived by her daughters-Eileen Mueller of West Bend and Lynne (Andy) Klemme of Mayville. Her sons- Edwin (Lou Ellen) Benter of Fox Lake, David (Lois) Benter of Mayville, and Terry (Candy) Benter of Milwaukee. Her daughter in law- Donna Benter of Rolling Stone Lake. Her grandchildren- Roger Mueller, Carol (Rick Bruskiewcz) Mueller, Chris (Darrel) Parsons, Susan (Andy) Quamme, Becky (Jr.) Feucht, Chad Benter, Brian (Sandra) Benter, Jaime (Anne) Benter, Lori (Todd) Henschel, Holly (Phil) Muench, Amanda Sisley, and Kimberly (fiancé Jeremy Moore) Pribnow. Her 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William, son Dean, sister Lorina Popp, and son in law Robert Mueller.
