Obituary

Ernest Herman Kallsen, 99 years old, passed away December 19, 2016 at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.

A visitation for Ernie will take place 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Tuesday, December 27th at Faith Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, WI. The funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon at Faith Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, with a lunch afterward. Those desiring to attend the graveside committal in Union Cemetery in Theresa will depart from Faith at 2:00 p.m.

Ernie was born August 23, 1917 in Cumberland WI, Barron County, to Henry and Louise (Leder) Kallsen. He was baptized September 16, 1917 and was confirmed on May 15, 1932 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cumberland. He married Lillie Heinecke at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Theresa, WI on January 1, 1944.

Ernie served in the U.S. Army from February 1941 until April 1942 with the 3rd Division at Ft. Lewis, Washington. He was then transferred to the 81st Quartermaster Army Division in 1942, with whom he served in the Pacific from 1944-1946. Ernie worked at Chrysler Outboard Motors in Hartford, WI for many years before retirement. Ernie and his wife, Lillie, loved traveling, both on tours and also to visit family and friends around the country. He enjoyed serving lunch to the children at St. John's Lutheran School in Lomira, WI, spending time with family, and gardening. Ernie loved to socialize and visit, and always had a story to share.

Ernie is survived by his son-in-law, Steven Ferguson of Fond du Lac; grandchildren Tammy (Jeff) Bloedorn of Nolensville, TN; Joel (Shannon) Ferguson of Fond du Lac; and great-grandchildren Bradley, Nathan, and Sydney Bloedorn, and Chelsea and Samuel Ferguson.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillie, of 66 years,; his two children, a son, James Brian, and a daughter, Ellen Marie Ferguson; his 6 brothers, Louis, Leonard, Edward, Raymond, Melvin, and Al; and twin sisters, Ellen and Helen.
