Mr. Earl A. Anderson, 97 years old, of Mayville, passed away Friday March 3rd at his home. Earl was born on March 23rd, 1919 in Stoughton, WI to Anna Bothum Anderson and Andrew Anderson. He was educated in Madison, WI at Madison College.

A celebration of Earl's life will be held on Thursday, March 23rd – his 98th birthday – at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville at 4:00 p.m., with Chaplain Bill Schuerman officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23rd from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Mayville American Legion. Military Honors will be conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post #69.

Earl served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theatre from 1942-1946, when he received an honorable discharge at the rank of Staff Sargent. During his Army years he was awarded the Victory Medal, American Ribbon, European - African - Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star and other accolades.

Upon returning from the war, Earl worked at Metalfab, Maysteel and Gleason Reel for 45 years. He was the Director of Purchasing for Maysteel and Gleason Reel retiring in 1984. Earl also owned Anderson Realty for over 30 years.

In September 1948, Earl married Geraldine Ladwig of Lowell, WI. The Andersons made their home in Mayville, where they had 2 lovely daughters, Susan and Jody.

Earl was a member of the Free Mason's, Rotary, United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #69. He was a member of the Dodge County Board for 36 years, serving on the Highway Committee, Land Information Committee, Veterans Service Commission, Dodge County Regional Airport, Clearview Center as well as the Housing Authority. While serving he was involved with the construction of the current airport and the new Clearview Long Term Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was also named an Honorary Sheriff and was a Justice of the Peace for Mayville in the 1960's. Earl served on the Mayville Board of Appeals, the Mayville Library Board, and the Senior Center Board.

Earl enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, the Packers, Badgers, Milwaukee Braves and Brewers. He also enjoyed strong Norwegian coffee, a traditional lutefisk supper – though always away from home - and the occasional gin martini on the rocks. Everyone knew, you were never served a cheap drink in his rec room bar. Earl and Gerry traveled frequently to Mexico, Hawaii and other warmer destinations. He and his grandson Brian took a long train ride to the Western US and Canada after his retirement.

Earl is survived by his wife Gerry of Mayville, his daughters Susan Anderson of Kenosha and Jody Anderson (Del McAdams) of Mount Pleasant; and his grandson Brian (Michelle) Sajona and his 2 great grandchildren who all live in Mililani Hawaii. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Marvin, and his sisters Marian Frank and Taladia Larson.

Many thanks to the caregivers who helped him remain in his home. The care provided by many special people including Jay Dorjsuren, Joe Ann Swan and many others including Mayville first responders.
