Obituary

Diane A. Zangl, age 76, of LeRoy passed away peacefully on March 20, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Diane was born the daughter of Battiste 'Tiste' and Wilhelmina 'Billie' (Weber) Del Ponte on April 20, 1944 in Knowles. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1962 and married her high school sweetheart, Roger Zangl, on August 28, 1965 at St. Andrew's in LeRoy. As a professional knitwear designer and creative soul, Diane shared her talents with others through knitting, quilting and crafts. She was part of a knitting community that spanned many states and included many artisan friends who shared her passions. Diane enjoyed the outdoors, spending many hours in her abundant garden and beautiful flower beds. Together, she and Roger enjoyed traveling. They toured many parts of the world including Alaska, Australia, Belgium and Germany. Spring through fall, they toured Wisconsin and the Midwest to antique tractor shows where they made many new friends.

Diane is survived by Roger, her husband of 55 years; her daughters Kristin (John) Zurovitch of Sarasota, FL.; Kelly (Gary) Zajkowski of Sheboygan; Kori (Jon) Zangl Holsten of Brown Deer; and her grandchildren Lauren, James, Sam, Ben and Kira. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marcia Milewski and brother Gordon Del Ponte.

Diane was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mayville. Special thanks to the staff of Agnesian Hospice for all of the care and support shown to Diane and her family. A private family memorial service will take place at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville with the Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Baggin' for a Cure, a local non-profit organization assisting families battling cancer and ensuring no one is fighting alone. Please send donations in remembrance of Diane to Baggin' for a Cure, 105 Turner St, Mayville, WI 53050.
