Delores Sharkey, age 88, of Horicon, passed away Saturday, September 22, at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam, finding peace of mind, body, and soul.

A celebration of Delores' life will take place on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Koepsell Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with a visitation taking place on Monday, October 8 from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Horicon.

Delores Johnson was born on August 12, 1930, the first child of Clarence and Norma (Pieper) Johnson. She was a graduate of Horicon High School and UW Oshkosh. She married Robert G. Sharkey on January 14, 1956. Delores chose teaching as a career and taught for many years in the Horicon and Mayville School Districts. Her goal was to impart a lifelong love of learning to her students.

She made a lasting impact on her family and friends, raising four children who in turn passed their good humor, patience, drive, independence, and compassion on to the next generation.

Delores is survived by her children, Jean (Roger) Schliewe of Horicon, Laure Noe of Beaver Dam, Suzanne (David) Sachse of Faribault, MN, and Ross (Catherine) Sharkey of Germantown; her siblings, Marlene Marsh of Horicon, Charles Johnson of Beaver Dam, Judy Thompson of Horicon, and Shirley (Tom) Doughty of Kewaskum; her grandchildren Tyler (Gwen) Sachse, Holly Noe, Brooke (Michael) Serpe, Jack (Angie) Schliewe, Sam (Samantha) Sharkey, and Maddy (fiancé Dan) Sharkey; her great grandsons Xavier and Linden Sachse, and great granddaughter Luna Schliewe; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Delores is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sharkey, her parents, and brothers Robert Johnson and Richard Johnson.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Hillside Manor for their compassionate care and kindness.
