Obituary

Darwin E. "Jake" Jacobson, 70, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Dodgeville went to his eternal rest at William S. Middleton Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Madison after a yearlong battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a Rosary service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, and also on Tuesday, November 21st at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rev. Michael Erwin will officiate. Military honors will follow the funeral service at the church.

Darwin was born the son of Wilson and Dena Caroline (Folstad) Jacobson on March 5, 1947 in Dodgeville, WI. He was married to Mary Beth Wolff on December 2, 1972 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dodgeville. Jake was employed many years at John I. Hahn Co. in Dodgeville and later with Neesvig's Meat Purveyors in Windsor.

In retirement, Jake enjoyed part-time work at Wal-Mart in Beaver Dam, mowing lawns for friends and neighbors, restoring his home in Beaver Dam and family gatherings. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and neighbor who brightened our lives every day and will be greatly missed.
Jake is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Beth Wolff Jacobson of Beaver Dam; his three children: Ginger (Tim) Jacobson Reffner of Madison, Dena (Mike) Jacobson-Hatton of Fairfax, VA, and Daniel Jacobson of Pardeeville; two grandchildren: Misha Hatton and Genevieve Reffner; his brother, Alfred (Kay) Jacobson; sisters-in-law: Judy Booth, Barb Wolff, and Virginia (Jerry) Haas; his brother-in-law, Christopher (Jeanne) Wolff; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Virginia Wolff; and beloved brothers-in-law: Charles Booth and Kenneth Wolff.
