Dan was born the son of Kenneth and Della (Anderson) Baney on March 4, 1956 in Scotland, SD. He was a 1974 graduate of Horicon High School. Dan was united in marriage to Nancy Becker on September 26, 1987 in Beaver Dam.

Dan is survived by his wife Nancy of Hustisford. daughter Abigail (Zachary) Kimmel of Onalaska and 'daughter' Brae (Jerret Parker) Landess and their son Liam of Green Bay. parents in law Calvin (Delores) Becker of Iron Ridge. Siblings Kathryn (Gregory) Keup of Theresa and Donald (Karen) Baney of Iron Ridge. Siblings in law Bonnie Becker of Mayville, Stuart Becker of Iron Ridge, and Richard Becker of Iron Ridge. He is further survived by nieces & nephews, other relatives & many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister in law Cheri Becker.

Dan had worked as a carpenter. In his spare time Dan loved the outdoors especially when he was fishing, hunting, or spending time on his Harley Davidson, Ole Blue, the bagger with an attitude. Did we mention Fishing---be it sturgeon spearing with family and friends, Mississippi River floats or any place with water and fish. He was an avid fan of all sports especially when his daughter was participating and wouldn't miss an event.

Dan was the family chef----Biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls, Chicken noodle soup, anything smoked and Grandma's potato salad---Everything from scratch. Dabbled in making wine---His 'Never Again Dandelion' was legendary.

A special friend said it best—Danny Boy was a simple man, not affected by the 'hoopla' of today's world. He was a fierce protector and provider for his family. A proud man who wanted for nothing---except maybe a new fishing lure. He didn't need or expect much---But willingly gave of himself.

Thanks to his determination, perseverance and sense of humor, he did not allow pulmonary fibrosis to slow him down.

A celebration of Dan's life will be held on Sunday, July 7 from 1-4 p.m. at the Mayville American Legion Post #69, 134 South Main Street. in Mayville. A time of family and friend remembrance planned for 2pm.
