Obituary

Brian C. "Pete" Roedl, age 90, of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at home with his wife holding his hand.

The visitation will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam on Monday, May 7, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12:00 noon. Fr. Michael J. Erwin will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 following the service at the church. Inurnment will take place at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.

Brian Carl Roedl was born on March 29, 1928 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to Arlea and Marie (Belling) Roedl. He was a 1946 graduate of Beaver Dam High School where he excelled at football, basketball, track & field and baseball, earning a total of 14 varsity letters. In 2005 he was inducted in the Beaver Dam Athletic Hall of Fame. On September 9, 1950, Pete was united in marriage with Loraine Veling at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Beaver Dam.

Pete joined the United States Army in 1950 and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1952. Pete owned and operated AA Roedl Excavating alongside his brother, Ronald "Buzz" Roedl. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 146 and St. Katharine Drexel Parish. Pete was a talented and creative woodworker – his hobby and passion. He left many lasting memories for his family and friends through his beautiful pieces. Pete volunteered his talent with the Beaver Dam High School Athletics department as the fix-up person. Through the years, he enjoyed participating in his children's and grandchildren's events and sporting activities.

Pete is survived by his wife, Loraine of Beaver Dam; children, Daniel (Denise) Roedl of Beaver Dam, Russell (Sally) Roedl of Madison, Peter Roedl of Portland, OR, and Mary Beth (Daniel) Eckert of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren, Nick (Michelle) Roedl, Nichole Matusin, Ben Roedl, Jenna (Dane) Neumann, Allysa Roedl, Colton Roedl, Natalie Eckert, and Sam Eckert; his special friend, Dick Karjewski as well as the rest of the coffee clutch group: Ken and Rick and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James; two grandchildren, Christopher and Danielle Roedl; siblings, Jack Roedl, Nancy Hurst, and Ronald Roedl.

Memorials may be made in Brian C. "Pete" Roedl's name to St. Katharine Drexel School Band or to Hillside Hospice and Homecare.
