Darlene E. Gentz, 84, of Waterloo fell asleep in Jesus on Wednesday, November 4, 2015.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev. Daniel Sims officiating. A visitation will also be held on Monday from Noon until 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus.

Darlene was born the daughter of Ernest and Elfrieda (Manthe) Schulenburg on September 24, 1931 in Poynette, WI. She was a graduate of Poynette High School. Darlene was married to Marvin Gentz on April 7, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington, WI. She was a dedicated homemaker and along with her husband, farmed all her life. Darlene was a faithful member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was truly her pleasure.

Darlene is survived by her two children: Sara (Dean) Staude of Watertown and Ricky (Lisa) Gentz of Waterloo; six grandchildren: Jody Duddeck, Kelly (Brian) Ewalt, Kari (Danny) Radke, Cody Gentz, Candy (Justin) Watters, and Carmen (Michael) Schrader; five great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; her brother-in-law: Donald (Eileen) Gentz of Juneau; two step-grandsons; one step-great granddaughter; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin in 1975, her brother, Ervin Schulenburg, her sister, Ruth (Arbie) Reible, her son-in-law, Wayne Kuhl, and her sister-in-law, Vera (Lester) Diefenbach.

Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church – Building Fund of Columbus or to Lakeside Lutheran High School of Lake Mills.
